Individuation is a key Jungian concept on the psychological development process that occurs at roughly midlife.  We will explore what it means and how we become a whole individual who is indivisible—can no longer be divided—as paradoxical opposites become reconciled. Relatedly, we will explore another key concept of holding the tension of the opposites. In particular, we will discuss how lived relationships, and all the struggles that ensue, can be the catalyst for the individuation process internally as the external world causes the alchemical process of transformation. We will discuss alchemy as similar to the individuation process and the various stages of the process that Jung considered.

Why do we go through this process? What is the value of the struggle and suffering? Why do we suffer? We explore these questions as a way to help us connect with our wild, authentic nature—our individual unique way of being in the world and sharing our individual gifts. And, ultimately, as a way to live a meaningful life.

  • If you are planning to attend and have not paid for this event, please register online or arrive early at 7:00 pm. This will give you time to pay, grab a complimentary snack and find a seat.
  • At the end of the lecture there will be time for questions, purchasing Dr. Stacey Shelby's book as well as book signing by the author.
