Desire and Intimate Earthquakes - Workshop

Workshop. Saturday’s workshop will be focused on calling forth questions and comments from  participants in group discussions. Case studies of couples and their psychology of marriage in addition to the use of fictional examples of tensions of love, desire and intimacy will be core to the day. For example, movie clips and readings from stories that are relevant to marriage will be integrated into the day.

Jane’s interest in marriage began as she reflected upon her parents’ relationship as a child.  With questions such as “Who is the truth teller here?” and “What made things really work?” she learned a foundation for questions that have been central to her inquiries psychologically – in marriage and more broadly in life.

Jane trained as a chaplain in both Toronto and Edmonton, then, believing, in her younger years, that the God of Abraham was the central force of the universe. Over years of service as a spiritual care practitioner at the bedside and as a clinical pastoral educator she found a lack in herself/her educational preparation. The lack, in many ways, she now, understands as the lack of understanding with respect to the depths of soul. Jane took up her training as a Jungian analyst within the Ontario Association of Jungian Analysts as a response to her lack. She graduated the program in February, 2015. Jane has a private practice in Hamilton, Ontario, where she resides. She is a sessional lecturer within the Toronto School of Theology at the University of Toronto and a member of the Spiritual and Supportive Care Team within Trillium Health Partners in Mississauga.  Jane has been married to Phil for nearly 35 years and they have three adult daughters, Sarah, Kate, and Alex.
