Annual General Meeting and Fireside Chat

“As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light of meaning in the darkness of mere being”    C.G. Jung

Did you know that over the past three years, the Calgary Jung Society (CJS) has offered over 20 events to meet our mission to educate those who have an interest in Jungian thought and its current application to spiritual life (soul), life in general, and to community?

Some of these past topics provided background and clarity on persona, shadow, soul, alchemy, individuation, and dreams. We explored Jungian analytical psychology as it is currently applied to aging, to the masculine (through the absent father), to the feminine (through the myth of Psyche and Eros), to living a symbolic life, as well as to personality as path, ego development, relationships, introversion, and sensitivity.

We have offered seminars on key concepts of analytical psychology and on dream interpretation. As well, the CJS has enjoyed stimulating book club selections, a series on writing and active imagination, and a reading of the play, Out of the Shadows: A Story of Toni Wolff and Emma Jung by Elizabeth Clark-Stern.

Moving forward, we invite you join us in reflecting on this past year as well as on previous years, discussing what’s really important to you; what makes your life meaningful in this swirl of change? The “fireside chat” portion of our Annual General Meeting will invite you to break into small discussion groups facilitated by current board members to discuss input on past and possible future events for the CJS. We have longed to hear from our members about what aspects of CJS programming are meaningful to them. These discussions will provide a basis for future programming and will facilitate the continued longevity of the Calgary Jung Society.

So please join us on Zoom at 7:00 p.m. on Friday January 21, 2022, for the formal part of our Annual General Meeting as we review 2021 with brief presentations from our current board members. Critical to the meeting is the election of the new 2022 board because several board members are needing to resign at this time. A new board will strive to ensure a continuation of timely and relevant offerings from the Society. Volunteers are essential and you are most needed now!! Please put your hand up!

This event is free. Only current members may vote during the formal part of the evening, but members and interested non-members are welcome to join the discussion.  We certainly encourage interested non-members to become members and to have a vote for the formal part of the evening.

Bring a friend; bring a date. It may be cold outside and darkness continues to pervade the day, but the discussion will be lively and may add lightness to your evening.

Please register yourself, your friend, and a date using this link.

See you soon!
