The Archetype of The Orphan, in the context of our contemporary culture.

Feeling orphaned is not only alarming, it is profoundly terrifying. It turns the world upside down. It exposes a dangerous picture of the world in general. The orphan is a child who has lost his or her parents, who is alone in the world.

The experience of being orphaned occurs in many situations throughout life. Anytime we feel disenfranchised, cut off, abandoned, lonely, the archetype of the orphan is constellated.

Join us to explore this interesting archetype and explore the following  questions;

-What is the orphan’s message?

-How does the orphan inform us of what is going on?

-How can he/she help us or destroy us?

-Does contemporary culture affect our sense of being at home in the world or does it contribute to the feeling of alienation?

I became Jungian Analyst in 1989, graduating from the C.G.Jung Institute in Zurich, Switzerland.

I was born in Zagreb, Croatia. My education led me to move and live in four different countries. After graduating from Medical University in Zagreb 1973, I moved to Germany where I specialized in Internal Medicine. During my work as physician I was intrigued by psychosomatic diseases, and the relationship between mind and body. This interest stirred my curiosity in the depth psychology and led me to study at the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich. After 8 years in Zurich I graduated in 1989 and moved to Calgary. I settled here and maintained private analytic practice. In 1991 I was one of the founding members of the Calgary Jung Society.
