Audition Notice for Out of the Shadows: A Story of Toni Wolff and Emma Jung

We are looking for readers! Following the meeting at our AGM on January 24, 2020, a staged reading of Elizabeth Clark-Stern’s “Out of the Shadows: A Story of Toni Wolff and Emma Jung” will be given.

Emma was the wife of Carl Jung and the mother of his five children. Toni was a patient of Jung’s who subsequently accompanied him through his dark night of the soul after he split from Sigmund Freud. Both women contributed to the development of Jung’s psychological theory. Both attended academic conferences with him, sometimes together and sometimes separately. Both became analysts, wrote books, participated in the Zurich Psychology Club and taught at the C. G. Jung Institute. Each of them suffered because of the presence of the other in the life of the man they both loved. They also found common ground in the realm of the mind and in their devotion to personal individuation.

You are invited to audition for a reading part. No acting or memorization is required. This is an opportunity for you to get to know Emma and Toni better, have fun and be an active participant in the Jungian community. We hope you step out (of your comfort zone perhaps!) and at least audition.

Copies of the script are available. See the attached flyer for further information.
