Lecture 1: Persona and the Call Within

Date: Thursday, March 16th: 7pm - 9pm

Location: St Laurence Anglican Church

Sculpture by David Altmejd

Persona is a relatively easy jungian concept to understand. Nevertheless, to acquire a conscious sense of its scope and impact on our life is a process that goes beyond intellectual understanding. Then, to disidentify ourselves from Persona and transform our social mask to a functional, flexible aspect of our personality is a lifelong undertaking. However, if we neglect differentiating persona and self, we risk never understanding who we really are and finding our place in the world.

3-Part Workshop: Exploration into the symbolic language of Dreams

Dates and Location:

Saturday, March 18th: 7pm - 9pm - St Laurence Anglican Church

Monday, March 20th: 7pm - 9pm - Zoom

Wednesday, March 22nd: 7pm - 9pm - Zoom

Floating World Series: Cosmos and Tsunami, Gareth Bate

Dreams speak to us at night and shed light on what we miss and can’t see during the day. Its language escapes us and so often we lose the thread that was so clear the night before, we forget. Although elusive and enigmatic dreams speak of what is kept most secret and intimate about who we are. The Dream is the royal road to soul.

In this 3-part course we will look at C. G. Jung’s way of working with dreams and some of his findings on their symbolic language. Also, we’ll apply some of these findings and consider how one can cultivate a dream journal and gain some insight into one’s unconscious. Then, we’ll practice on different dreams and try to get a grasp at what it’s like to honor and interpret a dream.

Lecture 2: Creativity, Freedom & Our Parental Complexes

Date: Friday, March 24th: 7pm - 9pm

Location: St Laurence Anglican Church

Family Group by Celia Paul

The freedom to create seems to be a minefield of complexes, especially, parental complexes. We will identify some of the particularities of parental complexes and inquire how and why they seem to wait around the corner and get in the way when we are about to be creative or free.

David will outline in a short presentation, aspects of parental complexes and their effects on creativity and freedom. Then we will open up the discussion and examine how these complexes can be identified and worked with personally.
